#1591 Wordle Answer and Hints for 2025-10-27 - FETID

Date: 2025-10-27

Hi! I'm a Wordle fan from China. Here's my Wordle strategy for 2025/10/27. I like to open with SHOUT and ALIKE - together they cover all five vowels and several useful consonants.

A
L
I
K
E
S
H
O
U
T

Clues so far: From ALIKE I learn that I and E are in the word. From SHOUT I get T in the word but not in position 5. So I have I, E, and T to work with.

R
E
D

Great progress! I try TIRED to test new consonants while attempting to place the known letters. This is excellent - T, I, and E are all present (yellow), and D is correctly positioned at position 5 (green).

I try DEBIT to better position the known letters and test new consonants. Since I already knew I wasn't in position 2 or 3, and E wasn't in position 4, I decided to try swapping their order with E before I. This attempt was very interesting - through DEBIT I locked in the positions of I and E, and combined with the previously locked D, the pattern now became _E_I_D!

Answer found: FETID - solved in 5 guesses! FETID means having an unpleasant smell, often used to describe something rotten or foul. The key breakthrough was using DEBIT to lock in E at position 2 and confirm the overall pattern, which made the final solution straightforward.
