#1656 Wordle Answer and Hints for 2025-12-31 - SIREN

Hi! I'm a Wordle fan from China. Here's my Wordle strategy for 2025/12/31. I started with my usual opener ALIKE.

From ALIKE I learned that I and E are both present in the word, with I not in position 2 and E not in position 5. A, L, K were all absent!

Second guess INSET was strategic to test more vowels and consonants. It revealed that I, N, and S are all present but not in positions 1, 2, and 3 respectively. Most importantly, E was confirmed as correct in position 4!

Third guess PINES was a brilliant move! I was correctly placed in position 2, and E was confirmed correct in position 4. S was confirmed not in position 3 or 5, leaving only position 1 for S. N was confirmed not in position 2 or 3, leaving only position 5 for N. Now I had the pattern SI_EN.

Answer found in 4 guesses! SIREN refers to a device that makes a loud warning sound, like those on emergency vehicles, or in mythology, a creature that lures sailors with their enchanting voice! The key was using PINES to lock in I and E in their correct positions.
