#1659 Wordle Answer and Hints for 2026-01-03 - SITAR
Date: 2026-01-03
Hi! I'm a Wordle fan from China. Here's my Wordle strategy for 2026/01/03. I started with my usual opener ALIKE.
From ALIKE I learned that A and I are present but not in positions 1 and 3 respectively! Since ALIKE already revealed two vowels (A and I), I didn't need my usual second opener SHOUT.
Second guess GIANT was a strategic choice! It revealed that I is correct in position 2, A is present but not in position 3, and T is present but not in position 5!
Third guess DREAM confirmed that A is correct in position 4, and R is present but not in position 2! D, E, and M were all absent. This narrowed it down significantly! Now I had the pattern _I_A_ with R and T still to place.
Fourth guess ALTAR was brilliant! It confirmed that T is correct in position 3, A remains correct in position 4, and R is correct in position 5! Since A appears only once (the first A in ALTAR was absent), this gave me the pattern _ITAR! The only remaining present letter was S, so SITAR was the obvious answer!
Answer found in 5 guesses! SITAR is a plucked string instrument originating from the Indian subcontinent, famously used in classical Indian music! The key insight was using ALTAR to lock in the last three letters (TAR), then realizing S must be the first letter since it was the only remaining present letter!
