#1684 Wordle Answer and Hints for 2026-01-28 - CRUEL

Hi! I'm a Wordle fan from China. Here's my Wordle strategy for 2026/01/28. I started with my usual opener ALIKE and SHOUT.

ALIKE revealed that L and E are present. SHOUT revealed that U is present.

Third guess CUBED was a breakthrough! C and E are both correct in positions 1 and 4! Neither L nor U is in position 2, so there's an unknown letter in position 2. U and L are present and they must be in positions 3 and 5. Therefore I tried the pattern C_UEL.

Answer found in 4 guesses! CRUEL means mean, harsh, or unkind - like 'a cruel person' or 'cruel treatment'! The key insight was using ALIKE, SHOUT, and CUBED to systematically identify C, R, U, E, and L and their correct positions through elimination!
